Flux Electrical Systems is a Tesla Certified Installer. That matters more with Powerwall than with most batteries: Tesla only supplies Powerwall 3 through certified installers, so certification is what puts the Tesla warranty and Tesla support behind your system. We install Powerwall 3 across the Sunshine Coast, from our base at Kunda Park out to Buderim, Caloundra, Kawana, Maroochydore, Sippy Downs, Nambour, Coolum, Noosa and the hinterland.
Powerwall 3 is a 13.5kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with a solar inverter built in. On a new install the panels connect straight to it. On an existing solar system it can be AC-coupled instead, so your current inverter stays. Either way you get automatic whole-home backup when the grid drops out, which on parts of the Coast is more than a theoretical benefit.
We install Sigenergy, GoodWe and Sungrow as well, and we will tell you if one of those suits your house better. If you drive a Tesla, or you want the most established battery brand with the widest service network, Powerwall 3 is usually the right call.
13.5kWh, expandable
One Powerwall 3 stores 13.5kWh usable, which covers an average Sunshine Coast household overnight. Expansion units add 13.5kWh each, up to three per Powerwall, for larger homes or EV charging from stored solar.
Solar inverter built in
Powerwall 3 has its own solar inverter with six independent inputs, rated for up to 20kW of panels. On a new solar and battery install you don't need a separate inverter, which simplifies the switchboard and the Energex application.
Whole-home backup
Up to 11.5kW continuous output, enough to run a typical house including air conditioning. With a Backup Gateway or Backup Switch, the changeover is automatic when the grid fails and you keep charging from solar during the outage.
Works with existing solar
Already have panels? Powerwall 3 AC-couples to your existing inverter. We check the inverter model, the switchboard and your Energex connection before quoting so there are no surprises on install day.
10-year warranty
Tesla warrants Powerwall 3 for 10 years with unlimited cycles for solar self-consumption and backup, and a guaranteed 70% capacity at the end of the term. Our lifetime workmanship warranty covers the installation itself.
Built for outdoors
Water and dust resistant, rated for -20°C to 50°C, and fine mounted outside on a Sunshine Coast wall. Near the beach we still position it out of direct salt spray where we can, the same as any battery.
Technical Specifications
What a Powerwall 3 install with Flux includes
- Site check first: switchboard, existing inverter, backup loads and Energex export limit, before we quote. On some Coast streets the export you're offered is not what the brochure says, and it changes the design.
- Everything in the one quote: Powerwall 3, Backup Gateway or Backup Switch, any switchboard work, the Energex application and monitoring setup. No line items that appear after you've said yes.
- Our own electricians: every install is done by Flux-employed licensed electricians. No subcontracted crews. The person who quotes the job is qualified to install it.
- Tesla app set up before we leave: you can see solar, battery and grid flows live, set backup reserve, and, if you drive a Tesla, manage the car and the house from the one app.
- Lifetime workmanship warranty: we stand behind the installation for the life of the system, provided it is maintained in line with Tesla's and our service recommendations. Tesla's 10-year product warranty applies separately.
- After-sales: you have our direct number, not a national queue. Most questions after install are about the app or an offline notification, and we sort those over the phone.
Powerwall 3 or something else?
We install more than one brand because different houses need different things. Powerwall 3 is fixed at 13.5kWh steps and AC roundtrip efficiency is a little lower than a DC-coupled modular system. Can Powerwall 3 be added to my existing solar?
Yes. Powerwall 3 can be AC-coupled to an existing solar system, so your current inverter stays where it is. If you are installing new solar at the same time, Powerwall 3 has its own solar inverter built in and the panels connect straight to it.
How much does a Tesla Powerwall 3 cost installed on the Sunshine Coast?
As a guide, a single Powerwall 3 installed typically lands between $16,000 and $18,000 before the federal battery rebate, depending on switchboard work, backup configuration and cable runs. Expansion units add capacity at a lower per-kWh cost. Prices move, so treat this as a September 2026 guide and get a quote.
Will Powerwall 3 run my whole house in a blackout?
In most homes, yes. With a Backup Gateway or Backup Switch installed, Powerwall 3 supplies up to 11.5kW continuously and switches over automatically when the grid drops out. Large ducted air conditioners and some pool equipment need checking against that limit, which we do at the quote.
